  • TheFancy is Stumbleupon for Shopping

    1

This is truly an exceptional web project, here are the things that I never realised it, but I do fancy. They display a set of products on thefancy.com that are simply stunning objects with the most enticing photography. This is really an amazing way to drive traffic to a website, but honestly it’s also the most amazing consumer experience. It’s like stumbleupon for products.

Their alexa ranking now is huge enough as it is, but this is truly a revolutionary way to experience online browsing. Their big win will be if they include a shopping cart functionality so that with one click I can buy everything I ever fantasized about in one fell swoop.

  • The $5000 Startup

Building a new new concept based on open source software can be very affordable. Start with planning, start at a high level of the funnel… do a drill down per phase (sign-up, log-in, product page, etc.), then once that’s worked out a high level, comes mock-up time (see Balsamiq as a great affordable solution) (I work with Amit Daliot who makes Axure protopying, about $2000, depending on complexity). Get a solid designer ($500). Final step: theming, I just love PSD2HTML (+$1500).

The video below shows the first phase of getting it done.

  • What I really do (IDF version)

These images have been making rounds over the past 4-5 days on facebook, thought I would put a hand in and produce my own version… being in the IDF some good classic perceptions… There is so much misconception, of course this isn’t going to solve anything. But it’s just another way to show the lighter side of things.

I’m not crazy about these images, can you suggest better ones?
